John Dorman is a board certified neurosurgeon and CEO Of West Texas Neurosurgery, a busy neurosurgical practice covering west Texas and southeastern New Mexico. In addition to providing coverage for the lead level trauma center, Dr. Dorman has a busy elective practice performing cranial surgery as well as complex spine surgery.
Dr. Dorman is also CEO of Scapa Flow, LLC, a software company that specializes in interoperative navigation software. Dr. Dorman holds numerous patents, and continues to advance surgical navigation.
Patrick West is a Partner at Mirus Capital Advisors, a middle market investment bank in the Boston area. He is also an active angel investor, non-executive director and advisor to early to mid-stage companies primarily in the med-tech space. Previously he was an accomplished executive and entrepreneur with extensive executive management and M&A experience in the healthcare technology and oil and gas / manufacturing sectors.
During a distinguished career with global orthopedic device manufacturer Stryker Corporation, Patrick worked at three divisions, culminating in his appointment as VP of Global Sales and Marketing for Stryker Biotech. During his career at Stryker he participated in numerous M&A and JV negotiations.
In 2002, Patrick left Stryker to found a group of companies in the oil and gas industry, which he led as CEO through exit in 2009 to Cameron International at best-in-industry multiples. Subsequent to this exit, he held a number of non-executive board positions in Europe highlighted by his work guiding the sale of Orthomimetics Ltd., an orthopedic medical technology company, to Tigenix NV at one of the most successful small-cap valuations worldwide in the period.
In addition to focusing on maximizing enterprise and ultimately exit value as a partner at Mirus, Patrick continues to hold a range of non-executive board positions and provides angel investment and strategic direction to a portfolio of companies.
Darren Skyles serves as Vice President of Legal Affairs for The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He provides oversight and guidance to the Department of Legal Affairs and has expertise in hospital operational, compliance and regulatory issues, corporate transactions, fraud and abuse, privacy and security, medical staff issues, governmental entity laws and litigation. Prior to his employment with UTMB, Darren worked in the Division of Public Affairs of The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center as well as practiced in the health law section of four different Texas law firms where he maintained a health care practice, specializing in the laws and regulations affecting hospitals, physicians and other health care providers. During his years in private practice, Darren oversaw the legal, compliance and regulatory affairs of a Texas Hospital District which grew, during his representation and oversight, from a local community hospital to a sizeable health care system. Darren received his B.A. in English and his J.D. from the University of Houston.
Sterling Satterfield is an Operations Engineer at an independent oil and gas company headquartered in Midland, Texas. Sterling has experience in mechanical design, economic analysis, project management, and computer simulation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering, and a Master of Business Administration.
